Portugal & Spain’s Douro River

THE UNESCO-DESIGNATED DOURO RIVER VALLEY BOASTS LOVELY VISTAS, STORIED TOWNS AND A CELEBRATED WINEMAKING HISTORY.

Rising in Spain and reaching the Atlantic Ocean in Porto, the Douro River carved out the dramatic Douro River Valley over many millennia. Rich with history and vinicultural delights, this is the most unspoiled UNESCO-designated area on the continent—and it’s yours to explore with Uniworld. Vineyards and small farms called quintas cling to the hillsides of the river valley, creating a spectacular backdrop to one of Europe’s most pristine landscapes and to Port country—the oldest demarcated wine region in the world.

THE DOURO RIVER

The UNESCO Douro River Valley is one of Europe’s most unspoiled areas. Over the centuries, the Douro has carved a spectacular and scenic valley endowed with panoramas stretching from stately Porto—Portugal’s center of Port wine production—to Spain.
